Introducing the Buick Verano AKA the “Baby Regal”
The Buick Verano is a brand new model from Buick, but it is much like the Regal in many ways. It is based off the Delta II platform, which is the platform General Motors uses for most of the compact sedans they create. Even though this vehicle is very similar in size to the Epsilon II-based Regal it is much different with the materials that are used and it is a Cruze-based vehicle as well.
The Buick Verano was shown off at the Detroit Auto Show in 2011 and GM is convinced there is a heavy market for a Buick sedan. It is 181 inches in length, which is only 9 inches shorter than the Regal is. It is also only 2 inches more narrow than the Regal and only a half inch shorter as well. This car has character and is practical all at the same time.
The Features of the Buick Verano
The main thing you will notice when you look at the
Buick Verano
is that the front fascia looks a bit like the LaCross sedan and the lines are upward sloping with a lower character. The tail lamps almost look like they are mad at somebody and they have a very angry downward look to them that is very sleek. There is a bit of chrome on this car to help dress it up a bit, but many have criticized this part of the design.
The car sits on 17-inch allow wheels and you can get 18 inch alloy wheels with some of the higher level trim options. It is available with front-wheel drive only and comes standard with a 2.4 liter, four cylinder engine. It has direct injection and produces a full 177 horsepower and 170 pound-feet torque.
The Ventiports on the Buick Verano do not advertise the engine correctly because there are 6 holes and the engine does not have a six cylinder engine. The engine does get 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the higher and Buick has said that the Buick Verano will also have a 2.0 turbocharged engine that will be available after the initial launch of the car.
The Buick Verano comes with Onstar, push button start, dual-zone climate control, heated leather seats, and a heated steering wheel. These are the luxurious features that are available and the price has been announced to run between $21,000 and $26,000 when this vehicle hits the dealer lots.
The Shear Elegance of the Buick Verano
When you first take a good look at the Buick Verano you will notice that it is a very sharp car with the kind of elegance that was seen in the 1961-62 Special. It has a very luxurious interior with a very sharp looking exterior. The plan is to introduce this car in just a few trims, but to expand the choices and give the driver the option for more than one engine and more than one interior design.
This is a well-priced car for what the owner gets and the Buick Verano is the perfect breed of luxury and design. If you are looking for a car that you will enjoy driving, has good power, and is luxurious on the inside with plenty of bells and whistles, then the Buick Verano will make a good choice for you.
